LED Buyer's Guide
Why are LED bulbs the best choice for my lighting needs?
LED (light-emitting diode) technology is becoming increasingly popular in the lighting industry, as these bulbs reduce energy costs and lower maintenance expenses. Though incandescent bulbs are less expensive, LED bulbs provide many more benefits and offer more for your money in the long run.
Energy-Efficient - LED technology allows you to save up to 90% on energy costs without having to replace your light bulbs for nine years or longer. This is because LEDs emit more light per watt than incandescent bulbs. A 4 to 5 watt LED bulb gives off the same amount of light as a 60 W incandescent bulb. Many people experience a 50% reduction in their electric bill when switching from other types of bulbs. Unlike compact fluorescent bulbs, LEDs do not need time to warm up, and light up to full brightness as soon as you turn them on.
Safe - LED bulbs contain no mercury, are more environmentally friendly, and have no special recycling requirements. They also generate less heat than incandescent bulbs, so they are never hot to the touch. In addition, LEDs are more durable, as they do not have a filament and don't shatter as easily as traditional bulbs.
Long-Lasting - Though the initial cost of an LED bulb is higher, the long lifespan of these bulbs means fewer bulbs will be needed over time. While an average incandescent bulb lasts about 5,000 hours, you can expect our LED bulbs to last between 25,000 and 50,000 hours. Due to their long life, these bulbs can be placed in fixtures that make bulb changes difficult. Also, LED bulbs do not wear out as fast when you turn the light on and off frequently.
Quality - LEDs give off a crisp, bright light unlike any other, because they produce about twice as many lumens as other types of light bulbs. They also come in a variety of styles and colors requiring no filters.
