Demonstration Greenhouses at Technology Center West

At our Dyersville, IA location, we've designed and constructed two greenhouse facilities. One is a 35' by 48' structure, which is split into two demonstration areas. In one half, we are modeling year-round, in-ground high tunnel production. The other half has hydroponic and aquaponic systems. Our 80' by 50' greenhouse is devoted solely to hydroponic production.

In our high-tech greenhouse, we demonstrate hydroponic systems, proper greenhouse plumbing and more.

Demonstration CEA Facilities at Technology Center East

At our South Windsor, CT location, we've built 3 state-of-the art growing rooms in our warehouse. Two 30' by 72' rooms and one 20' by 30' room that use controlled environment technology to maintain ideal growing conditions. One of the 30' by 72' rooms is used to grow leafy greens with our NFT Systems. The other 30' by 72' room is used to grow flowering and fruiting crops like tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and more. The 20' by 30' room is used for fodder production and houses a Micro FodderPro 2.0 Feed Systems, FodderPro 3.0 Commercial Modules and a Seed Soaking and Sanitizing System.

Learn More About Us!

When you visit one of our campuses, you'll have the opportunity to learn more about FarmTek and the things we do best. Some of the topics that are most important to us include:

The advantages of hydroponics

With hydroponic, or soilless, growing you can achieve larger, higher quality crops due to controlled nutrient ratios and high yields in minimal growing space. A major benefit of hydroponic systems is that they can be used in areas where soil-based cultivation isn't possible, such as locations with poor soil quality, or where water supplies are limited.

The benefits of tension fabric structures

Fabric structures are affordable for you, with low costs per square foot, little or no property taxes and energy-saving benefits. Abundant natural light limits the need for daytime artificial lighting. Temperature-stabilizing fabric covers reduce the need for heating and cooling systems. When you choose a ClearSpan Fabric Structure, you can have your structure installed in only a matter of weeks. ClearSpan structures take as little as three weeks to produce and as little as three to five days to install.

The value of local agriculture

Locally grown and sustainability go hand in hand. Growing your own or purchasing from a local farm or farmers' market ensures a reduction in fossil fuel use, more nutritious, better tasting and fresher produce, and many additional environmental benefits.
